St Peter’s N.S is very proud of its musical tradition with our choirs and orchestra. Current and past pupils of St Peter’s N.S are members of Athlone Youth Orchestra and have played in the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Musical Choirs

St Peter’s have a variety of different choirs which are conducted and accompanied by Mrs Hilary Roche.

• Each year every class take part in Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna in the Dean Crowe Theatre.
• The pupils from 4th & 5th classes take part in the Peace Proms Choir every second year.
• We also sing at Music Generation Offaly Westmeath “Singfest” every June in AIT.
• Mrs Fagan and Mrs Roche also run an after-school Acapella Choir called Bella Acapella.
• The pupils sing at mass in the church choir in St Peter & Paul’s Church.
• Students also carol sing in Athlone Shopping Centre each Christmas to raise money for the local St Vincent de Paul Society.

School Orchestra

5th & 6th class pupils learn to read music and play an instrument as members of our school orchestra. The instruments in the orchestra include flutes, trumpets, oboes, trombones, saxaphones, guitars, keyboards and drums. The conductor is Paul Hensey.
